NGC 6229

 

NGC 6229 is a small, (4'30") magnitude 9.4 globular cluster located in the constellation Hercules.  It was first discovered by William Herschel on May 12, 1787, and was mistakenly catalogued as a planetary nebula.

TELESCOPE:  Orion 100mm ED refractor @ F/18

ISO SETTING:  800

EXPOSURES:  23

EXPOSURE LENGTH:  400sec.

TOTAL EXPOSURE LENGTH:  2hrs, 35min.

SUBTRACTIONS:  10 darkframes, 10 bias frames

CAPTURE SOFTWARE:  MaximDL

STACKING SOFTWARE:  Deep Sky Stacker
